Organization is a most important key to running a smooth and profitable business! Without a system you have chaos which will result in certain failure. Organization requires a system. Not everyone is going to do things exactly the same, so you need to figure out what works best for you and stick with it! For example: Every business should have an employee list. Some may prefer them to be listed alphabetically and others may prefer them to be listed according to title. I would recommend making a list for both ways. This way, you have both options and depending on what you are needing, you have them both at your access when trying to find information. Make sure that all of the information on these databases match and be sure that whenever you are creating new files, the information always coincides! So, in saying this, here are a few simple steps to organization. Step one, be sure that you have spreadsheets set up in an orderly fashion. Donʼt just list names or jobs as they come to mind or as they are hired or assigned. Have a system and stick to it. Over the past year, we have seen a drastic change in the way people do business. This  is  due  partly  to  the  economic  downturn  in  the United  States. Many have seen businesses fold and have taken a strict inventory of how they operate. That being said, the question arises, “How do we maintain and keep our company healthy and successful?” Now, sad to say, but most people are not visionaries and are limited in their scope of the “big picture”. In order for us to continue to succeed as a thriving business we must collectively see the “big picture”.  For  example,  do  you  see  yourself  working  in  this   company  for  a  year  to  five years,  or  do  you  see  yourself  retiring  with  this  company? The “big picture” person says, “I see myself retiring with this company”. That type of attitude will keep this company thriving in the midst of an economic slump. Along with this attitude come productivity, honesty, and integrity. The “big picture” person will accomplish his work tasks in a timely manner, not cheating the clock, and doing his job to the best of his ability. He will also consider his company’s time as not merely a dollar sign but as an avenue of invaluable   knowledge. Not every hour that is worked should be considered paid hours. If you are receiving knowledge from the company but not giving knowledge to the company, you are not a great asset to the company.
